KL Tour
Panthers Win Plate final (3rd overall)
Leopards Win Bowl final (5th overall)
Our tour to KL can only be described as a resounding success at all levels.
As the first tour for this group of boys there were many lessons learned (and a few dished out) and as a club; players, parents and coaches alike represented Tanglin in a spirit which the whole club should be proud of.
The Tanglin Leopards played some fabulous rugby on Saturday winning 3 of their 5 games which placed them equal 4th overall at the end of the day.
There were a number of players who starred in cameo rolls in both defense and attack and showed what we have been training for over the past many hot months at Turf City.
Their highlight game however came in their bowl final where they beat HKFC (who's Red and Blue team were actually the same and who had also qualified 2nd overall) in extra time taking 5th overall.
Tanglin Panthers finished ranked one after two days of pool games and were only narrowly beaten in a very tight semi final against the eventual winners, RSC.
That loss inspired the Panthers to an emphatic win in the Plate final winning comfortably and finishing up 3rd overall.
These boys (and their coach perhaps) learned how to take a loss the right way and bounce back which showed tremendous character, something they should all be very proud of.
From my perspective all players deserve recognition for playing their hearts out. Having won both of their final games everyone had a medal and a trophy to bring home, but more imporatantly they all learned about playing in tournaments, about winning and bouncing back after a loss... we are all looking forward to April when hopefully the same teams will participate and we can exact some revenge.
To all the Coaches and Parents who put so much into the weekend, thank you and see you all on Sunday morning bright and cheery.
