Under 11s Mini Rugby

The TRC U11's have a clear mandate - to play rugby that puts smiles on faces and cups in the cupboards. That means learning good technique, controlled aggression, team spirit and respect. Win the ball, maintain possession and share it with your team mates - safely.

Our practice sessions are a combination of serious drills and fun sessions such as British bulldogs and wheelbarrow races. Rugby at TRC is an opportunity to develop not only our young players' game and confidence but also their sportsmanship.

We do this with the passion of qualified (IRB 1 and 2) volunteer coaches with extensive playing experience.

We play games locally against ACS, LFS, Centaurs and St. Andrews and also tour abroad. Our players' coaches and parents come from numerous countries including, England, Ireland, Scotland, Singapore, Malaysia, Colombia, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand with one thing in common - we play for fun and we play to win !
New joiners will probably be nervous to start with and the most important way to ensure they develop is to try to ensure they keep coming to the training sessions even if they take a few knocks. Experience tells us that confidence usually develops after five or six weeks if a child has not played any rugby previously and it is very easy to lose enthusiasm after the first few weeks. Parents must make a commitment to support and encourage their child during this transition.

Every child will play in tournaments where possible. In some tournaments, particularly later in the year, numbers may be restricted and if this is the case then the squad will be based on performance and commitment to attend training sessions during the season.
